Course description
Five days to upholster a chair
No prior knowledge is required for this course.
During this week, you will restore your chair with our upholsterer Virginie, following traditional methods.
Come with a frame ready to receive new upholstery—that is, stripped, repaired, and re-glued if necessary.
To prepare, you will benefit from unlimited access to the open workshop during the ten days preceding the course.
Content and objectives:
To begin, choose a simple chair such as a bridge chair or a medallion chair.
Each step will be explained to you. Virginie will demonstrate the techniques and guide you as you reproduce them.
- Webbing
- Springs and tying
- Adding the stuffing
- Upholstery and stitching
- The underlining
- Fabric installation (depending on the participant’s progress)
Reupholstering a chair can take a long time, and these thirty hours may not be sufficient. To ensure personalized guidance, the number of participants is limited to 6 to 7.
