Course description

Five days to upholster a chair

No prior knowledge is required for this course.
During this week, you will restore your chair with our upholsterer Virginie, following traditional methods.

Come with a frame ready to receive new upholstery—that is, stripped, repaired, and re-glued if necessary.
To prepare, you will benefit from unlimited access to the open workshop during the ten days preceding the course.

Content and objectives:

To begin, choose a simple chair such as a bridge chair or a medallion chair.
Each step will be explained to you. Virginie will demonstrate the techniques and guide you as you reproduce them.

  • Webbing
  • Springs and tying
  • Adding the stuffing
  • Upholstery and stitching
  • The underlining
  • Fabric installation (depending on the participant’s progress)

Reupholstering a chair can take a long time, and these thirty hours may not be sufficient. To ensure personalized guidance, the number of participants is limited to 6 to 7.

Please note:

30 hours from Monday to Friday, 10:00 am–1:00 pm and 2:00 pm–5:00 pm.
