Course description
Make a wooden chair
Come and imagine, design, and build your chair prototype using pine battens with Yann, designer. This 9-hour workshop is held over two days once per quarter in our Paris workshops.
There are no prerequisites, and whether you are a beginner or experienced, this chair design and making workshop will suit you.
Content and objectives:
This workshop highlights the discovery of design and creativity through the creation of a chair.
The exercise consists of creating different chair iterations while respecting specific design and material constraints, particularly through the use of square-section battens.
The workshop takes place over two sessions. The first 3-hour session is dedicated to designing your chair and planning its construction.
You will be introduced to basic technical drawing, with a focus on elevations.
During the second 6-hour session, you will build your chair using tools such as a miter saw, a drill, and a sander.
To easily assemble your chairs, we will use screws, glue, and clamps.
Finally, we will sand the final shapes and explore different finishing options.
At the end of this workshop, you will have completed the full process: design, drawing, and fabrication of a prototype.
