Course description

A woodworking course by making a small piece of furniture

We offer a one-day workshop to build a wooden stool.
Making this stool is open to everyone and requires no prerequisites.

Content and objectives:

While making your Yonka pine stool, you will use hand tools, portable power tools, and stationary machines.

  • Preparing the dowel joints: marking the parts, drilling the holes, dry assembly
  • Shaping the legs at the top and bottom
  • Gluing the base
  • Shaping the seat
  • Assembling the seat to the base using dowels

To make your wooden stool, you will learn, among other things, how to create simple, modern joints using a drill and without screws.
The goal is to make you independent with the tools so that you can reproduce this technique to create your own small pieces of furniture.

Assessment:

Entry quiz:  Test your knowledge
Instructor observations throughout the course
Skills assessment quiz

Please note:

All materials will be provided. Grain pattern, color, placement, and size of knots may vary depending on the wood panel.

To continue learning and practice at home, we offer a DIY kit containing everything needed to make the Yonka stool.

We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes.
