This 2.5-hour hands-on discovery course in straw marquetry is led by Ophélie. This very ancient technique consists of gluing rye straw edge to edge.
Content and objectives:
Widely used in the 18th century and very popular again during the Art Deco period, straw marquetry is now highly appreciated by designers to decorate decorative panels, furniture, and objects.
This 2.5-hour practical course will introduce you to the straw marquetry technique.
You will learn how to select the straw, split it open, flatten it, and glue it by creating a sample on wood.
Natural and flexible, rye straw has the distinctive quality of being iridescent. This material is pleasant and easy to work with!
With no prerequisites, this workshop is organized for groups of 3 to 8 people.
