Course description
Come and make furniture at 1/6 scale
This workshop is designed for anyone who wants to make miniature wooden furniture: children and teenagers (from age 10), as well as adults.
Participants will be able to use patterns already scaled to 1/6, customize them if desired, and cut the different parts using a Japanese saw and an electric scroll saw.
They will discover different joinery systems for assembling miniature furniture (table and/or chair).
Content and objectives:
During this 3-hour workshop, participants will be able to:
- Learn how to scale a piece of furniture
- Become familiar with the basic structural parts of a piece of furniture and see how to adapt them in miniature
- Transfer pre-scaled furniture patterns (1/6) onto thin wooden pieces (with the option to customize shapes)
- Cut the parts (using a Japanese saw and an electric scroll saw) and sand them
- Assemble the furniture
