Vincent Fillon

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

I have been a fine art photographer for 12 years. I present my work in galleries, at photography festivals, and at contemporary art fairs. For the past 5 years, I have been developing an activity around design and the production of objects in limited editions. My next series, called “Monoliths,” draws inspiration both from my photographic work and from my design research.

What is your story with L’Établisienne?

The story began with a first course I was given, to learn the basic techniques of woodworking. I am a photographer by profession, and I quickly designed my first photographic installations, then small furniture projects… The desire to “make” and to draw became increasingly present.
I designed and produced my first pieces: an armchair with Scandinavian influences and multiple positions, a mobile bookshelf, and photo display stands. Then I experimented with new materials: paper and concrete for creating lighting fixtures.

What do you do there?

I lead a workshop on an old photographic process: cyanotype.

What is:
Your favorite material? Paper! Whether for photographic prints, cyanotypes, or lighting fixtures, I am constantly searching for new types of paper.
Your favorite tool? The laser cutter! Ideal for making prototypes, templates, cutting, and drawing on various materials!
Your favorite gesture? Not one gesture in particular, but learning new ones thanks to the many tips from other instructors (thanks Bérengère!).
